We’re going to open TRACE 700 and since we have a simple fictitious square building, we’re just going to click “Close” here. We’re going to go to “File.” And “New.” And “New File Wizard.”
I’m going to give this a name. Something original: Dedicated Outdoor Air System 1.
And we walk through the New File Wizard. We’re going to make it an office.
We’re going to make the building 75x75. There’s no plenum. It’s one floor. The perimeter depth is 15 feet. And the whole building has a 30% bend of glass with no skylights.
The weather location is in St. Louis. And one of the things that you’ll get when you set up a file from the New File Wizard is that you’ll end up with 40 templates and so the first thing you’ll want to do is verify which templates are being used so we look at “Create Rooms” and we notice if we scroll through here that templates named “Wing 1” are simply being used. We don’t need to edit any other templates. If we look at the templates, we’ll see that there’s a “Default,” “External,” “Internal” and Wings 1-5. But there’re 40 templates and only five of them are being used. And so to start, when we want to edit this, what we can do to edit this is we only have to look at Wing 1 but we’re going to get a little bit more detailed than that.
What we can do at this point is set up a basic template to fill in the majority of our inputs for our room. So we’ll go to Wing 1. And for simplicity’s sake, let’s go to the “Room Template” and let’s just then “Room Template: Office.” And now if we click “Office” all the sub-templates are Wing 1 but at least you’ll see that there’s a general office template.
