The individual in this position will have a strong knowledge of building energy analysis and HVAC system design, especially for geothermal heat pump system, and demonstrated ability in communicating with clients and delivering high quality HVAC system design. It is preferred that the candidates have programming skill/experience with Fortran and/or Visual Basic. Master degree is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities and requirements for this position are detailed in the following:
Responsibilities
- Create computer model for buildings and geothermal heat pump (GHP) systems with eQUEST or other appropriate building energy analysis and ground heat exchanger design software.
- Provide assistance in the design of GHP systems, including but not limited to evaluate and recommend HVAC system type and ground heat exchanger that best fits for a particular project, specification of heat pump units, conduct energy analysis to verify and optimize the design of GHP systems, and prepare LEED EA credits required supporting documents.
- Develop and maintain heat pump performance data/curve libraries accessible from eQUEST and other building energy analysis programs.
- Take part into R&D projects aiming at improving energy efficiency and/or reducing initial cost of GHP systems.
- Design and implement new software tools to facilitate GHP system design.
- Give training to HVAC industry practitioners on GHP system and available design tools.
Education and Experience
- At least 1 year experience in HVAC system design and/or building energy simulation.
- Academic experience and/or graduate work in building energy analysis and/or geothermal heat pump technology may be substituted for above.
- Bachelor of Science Degree is required, preferably in Mechanical/Architectural Engineering. Master degree is preferred.
- LEED AP is and/or Certified Geo-Exchange Designer is preferred but not required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are must with proven customer service and presentation skills.
- Strong knowledge of building energy analysis and/or ground heat exchanger design tools is preferred.
- Proficient in programming with FORTRAN and/or Visual Basic or other similar programming language is preferred.
- Demonstrated passion for energy conservation and environment protection is a plus, especially in maximizing building energy efficiency.
