Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated and results driven Building Energy Analysis Software Development Engineer to join the Software Systems group at Carrier Corporation. This position focuses on the development of engineering analysis software such as Carrier E20-II HAP for HVAC system design, whole building energy analysis and LEED Energy and Atmosphere Credit 1 analysis. Focus also extends to lifecycle cost analysis and HVAC acoustics. The prospective candidate is expected to grow into a technical leadership role in advancing E20-II software capabilities and to manage multiple projects to achieve these objectives. In addition, the prospective candidate will also be involved in projects to use modeling software to develop new system architectures and HVAC solutions.

The Software Systems group is responsible for developing and maintaining software-based tools to drive Carrier equipment and systems sales strategy. This includes ownership of Carrier Electronic Catalog Programs (E-CAT) and E20-II/HAP system design tools that are employed by Carrier sales engineers and outside consultants to develop sustainable HVAC system solutions. This position is based in Syracuse, NY but the candidate will interact with other Carrier team members based in Montluel, France and Shanghai, China.

Specific responsibilities:

? Work with internal and external customers to identify HVAC analysis needs and develop software tool requirements.

? Develop physics-based and data-driven models of HVAC systems, equipment and buildings.

? Develop software designs and specifications.

? Implement features and models in E20-II software as well as manage software developers to implement features.

? Participate in software testing and quality assurance.

? Develop technical documentation.

? Assist Carrier staff in development of training and software support materials.

? Assist in delivery of technical support to software users.

? Team with HVAC systems designers to apply modeling software to develop architectures and solutions to achieve new levels of energy efficiency and system integration.

? Participate in industry meetings to monitor and influence the HVAC and building modeling community.

Education:

Candidates should possess a MS in Mechanical Engineering with at least 7 years experience with concentration in development of computer models for thermodynamic, HVAC and/or power generation systems. Must be fluent in English (both written and spoken) with excellent technical writing, presentation, and communication skills. Ability to lead and work as a part of a multidisciplinary team in a global environment is required.

Experience / Skills:

- 7+ years experience with concentration in development of computer models for thermodynamic, HVAC and/or power generation systems.

- Familiarity with HVAC technologies including air-side systems, water-side systems and equipment such as rooftops, chillers, boilers, water source heat pumps, cooling towers, fans and pumps.

- Experience with HVAC system design, system selection, whole building energy simulation, LEED Energy and Atmosphere Credit 1 analysis and/or green building principles.

- LEED Accredited Professional (AP), BD+C or Green Associate, and/or ASHRAE Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP) certification optional but desirable.

- Involvement in industry associations such as ASHRAE or USGBC is a plus.

- Highly motivated, self-directed and able to work independently.

- Passion for excellence and customer service.

- Proficiency with project management

- Experience with software development principles and processes.

- Experience with Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0, Microsoft VB.NET and/or C#.

- Able to effectively manage multiple projects concurrently to meet broad department goals.

- Able to adapt schedule and priorities to meet changing project requirements.
