*The Nomination Period for the IBPSA-USA Board of Directors is Open**!*

We are now accepting applications for the annual Board of Directors
election for the 2021-2023 term. Board members serve a two year term with
staggered terms to bring fresh voices to the Board every year. There are 7
Director positions open for this election.* This year, we are also
introducing a position for a Student Director* who can directly represent
and engage with the student community, which will serve a 1-year term.

*Nov. 18: Technologies and Considerations for HVAC Systems in a Pandemic -
IBPSA-USA NYC Chapter*

The pandemic has led to finding new and innovative technologies to reduce
the spread of virus indoors. ASHRAE and the CDC, among other public health
organizations, recommend a combination of air filtration and increased
indoor ventilation for buildings.This IBPSA-USA NYC session will look at a
few technologies and discuss the energy use impact of air filtration /
increased ventilation and ways to account for the impact in energy models.

*Nov. 18: Building Simulation Users Group November Event: High Performance
Classrooms*

This session will highlight several case studies of high performance
schools in the Northwest to address daylighting, natural ventilation, and
integration of mechanical systems. Each passive strategy will be addressed
in detail with regional examples and performance research.

*Dec. 3: URBANopt - An Open-Source Software Development Kit for Community
and Urban District Energy Modeling - IBPSA-USA Research Committee*

For the webinar we will first present an overview of the URBANopt platform.
Second, we will describe the functionality of the core SDK modules in
URBANopt and discuss the flexibility of these modules as a means of
integration with a variety of tools. Lastly, we will present the
integration of URBANopt in Ladybug Tools and describe the new Ladybug Tools
components that utilize URBANopt?s underlying analytics.

*Dec. 8: Performance-based Compliance for Submittal Reviewers*

DOE/PNNL/Karpman Consulting has developed the compliance form to support
ASHRAE 90.1-2016 and 2019 Energy Cost Budget and Appendix G. This 2-hour
training is targeted toward building officials, beyond code program
administrators, and others who are tasked with approval of energy modeling
submittals for performance based compliance.
