Hi there and thanks for checking out Energy-models.com!
We recently added a full ALL ACCESS eQUEST pass. It gives you access to all of our courses for the price of one course!
eQUEST is a great software choice for any stage of energy simulation. In this email, we are going to cover 3 tips:
The following tips come from our eQUEST training, specifically our Real World eQUEST walkthrough, where we build an advanced eQUEST file start to finish.
Tip #1:
A lot of you may not know where to start when prompted by eQUEST. Do you start in the SD wizard, the DD Wizard or in Detailed data edit?
One highly recommended tip is to start in either wizard and do not start in advanced mode. Even experts start in the wizards.
Now, the decision it to start in the schematic design (SD) wizard vs the design development (DD) wizard is usually based on a user’s experience. If you are inexperienced, try the SD wizard first. If you have enough experience, you can easily start with DD, but you will know when SD is an option!
You can always move a project from SD to DD, but never from DD to SD!
Tip #2:
When drawing your building zones in eQUEST, draw down the center of the wall and make sure there is no white space in your drawing! Maybe this sounds simple, but it is a very common error and easy to make if you have thick walls in your CAD file!
Tip #3:
If daylighting is a potential design feature of a building, it is much easier to add it in the wizard and disable it later than to add it in the detailed data edit mode.
