Not a lot of posts related to the BLDG-SIM 20th anniversary
so I thought I would share something silly and embarrassing.

No apologies here =).
I don?t have any fun pictures ready at hand, but I have some words.
I have no bounds in gratitude towards Jason and the broader onebuilding.org mailing list communities. 20 years ago? well I can?t reasonably start there because in high school my major aspirations included being the best chicken farmer and poultry judge my local FFA chapter had ever seen? but ~10 years ago marks the time I first signed up for and began actively tuning into these mailing lists. I was just getting started with getting my toes wet in building energy simulations. That na?ve EIT had no what a slippery slope this would turn into?
Random strangers have evolved to respected names. Respected names have evolved into business partnerships, and even friendships. Favors once owed have been earned and repaid many times over with the knowledge and connections that have accrued along the way.
I *cannot* overstate the value and importance of this community in the motivations and success I have enjoyed in my career. Today I?m in a position where I can leverage these skillsets to make measurable, positive changes in the world every day. I could not have grown this much so quickly without your help.
Thanks are due to *everyone* tuning in. Even a passive level of participation adds value to what we accomplish here. If a single exchange helps outside parties to learn and grow, then the time invested becomes all the more worthwhile. For anyone who hasn?t taken the plunge, I?ll assure that actively participating (posing your own questions, responding to others?) is extremely rewarding. Some of the best learning/growth comes through teaching.
My warm regards,
~Nick

Maybe not exactly the right years, but you get the point - a little
wiser (and more fun) now than then.
Happy 20th! Prost!
May all your simulations be true, and may you have the wisdom (or luck)
to know the ones that aren't.
