Does anybody have any tips on copying and pasting to and from equest and microsoft excel? For instance, is there a way to change large amounts of data in the spreadsheet view?
This may be the most ridiculous work around, but it worked for me and it only takes an extra 10 seconds:
Once you copy and paste the data from excel and have it in equest but in black text. Copy it (again) in eQUEST using ctrl + C
Then, hit ctrl+V again (with the same text hightlighted)
This worked for me. The problem is that it needs to be in the right format so that equest "refreshes" each individual field as it pastes the data.
Please note, that I am finding that some fields this does not work for the more I look into it. and it definitely works better when doing one column at a time.
So I was trying this out last week and ran into a problem where I could paste data into eQUEST but instead of the usual red text, the text was black. When I open any menus in eQUEST the text disappears and it's like nothing was entered. This was under the airside tab under outdoor airflows. I tried removing all formatting from excel and pasting again but still no luck.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Also, this was done in 3.63.
Someone on the equest users list mentioned that it did not work for them in 3.64.
The drag and highlight feature does not work for "non-drop down fields" in 3.64.
The way around that is to select the top field and hold Shift + Ctrl and use the arrows to highlight multiple options.

If you are looking for a way to run some models, such as valuations using Excel - I use valuation-modeling-in-Excel

Yes, there is a way to do it, but there is a trick.
1. Highlight the appropriate data in eQuest
2. Hit ctrl + C
3. Open excel and hit Ctrl+V to paste the data
4. Edit the data in excel (lets say we are going to multiply everything by 2 for simplicity sake) and select and ctrl+C
5. Go back into eQuest and highlight the targeted area as in step 1
6. Here is the tricky part: Instead of hitting ctrl+V (which will not work) hit Shift+Ins+Ctrl+V and it should paste the data
