JOB DESCRIPTION FOR energy Modeler & Consultant
Position Summary
Provide energy and climate analysis studies for our national and international clients. Collaborate with design teams and internal consultants to identify effective energy efficiency and low carbon measures for the built environment including passive strategies. Effectively communicate proposed solutions to clients using high quality visual and verbal communication. This position is ultimately responsible for delivering high quality, cost effective and innovative technical analysis consistent with GBS’ vision, strategic goals and objectives.

Job Responsibilities

Ensure the delivery of technical services to the client are of high quality, completed on a timely basis and delivered in an efficient manner

Utilize energy modeling tools to quickly identify energy efficiency measures in early design; analyze measures including basic cost to report on simple payback

Facilitate early design assistance meetings focused on innovative energy strategies with owners, architects and design engineers Review drawings, specifications and other related material to gather data for setting up an energy model

Understand and develop strategies to accurately represent building systems and their anticipated energy performance based on the guidelines provided in ASHRAE Standards and Title 24, as well as technical guides developed by USGBC or State Agencies

Provide modeling reports that are clear and concise regarding technical information

Complete energy models and LEED documentation for LEED energy credits

Track industry developments and innovations to ensure GBS’ ability to deliver relevant services and innovative deliverables

Work with the Management team to identify and implement business development and strategies for the technical team
Qualifications
-
Bachelor of Applied Science or Engineering or Architecture
-
5+ years relevant experience with design simulation and consulting
-
Extensive knowledge of HVAC, lighting, renewable energy, and passive design
-
LEED Accredited Professional with Specialty. Well versed with the USGBC LEED Rating Systems and the review and comment response process as it pertains to energy modeling

Knowledge of California Title 24 energy modeling protocols

Ability to provide energy modeling for Oregon SEED requirements

Possess strong analytical skills

Possess strong writing skills

Good graphic skills

Solid leadership skills

Ability to review energy model files for accuracy and to perform troubleshooting

Ability to lead energy and climate analysis projects and present complex information to clients effectively

Required Software knowledge: HAP, Trane Trace, eQuest, DOE2,

Desirable Software knowledge: Daylight and CFD modeling, Ecotech, EnergyPro, EnergyPlus, or Radiance, ACI32
