Building Systems Engineer
SWA is seeking an engineer to assist in improving performance of homes and residential systems through research, design, and field evaluations. The successful candidate will be an integral part of our expanding residential energy services group. The position will focus primarily on the building envelope and mechanical systems in homes, but IEQ, moisture management, reducing and reusing materials, and other aspects of sustainable home construction will also be relevant. This person will be fully responsible for the planning and execution of projects from the proposal stage through project completion.
Work will include design, research, modeling, performance testing, monitoring, and product development. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background with a solid, working knowledge of residential systems and building science. Familiarities with residential HVAC design (Manual J/D) and energy modeling (REM/Rate, EnergyGauge, DOE-2, etc.) is desired. It is also desirable if the applicant is a RESNET certified HERS rater and/or BPI certified building analyst. The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communications skills, as well as interpersonal skills.
