The Position and Team:
Steven Winter Associates, Inc. is seeking an Energy Engineer/Analyst II to support the firm?s Sustainable Building Services group. The position provides whole-building energy analysis to support systems optimization, LEED certification, energy code compliance and compliance with energy efficiency incentive programs for multifamily buildings in the region. The primary focus of this position is whole-building energy modeling under ASHRAE 90.1 Energy Cost Budget and Performance Rating Method protocols.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will work on commercial new construction and gut-renovation projects, and must be able to perform the following tasks:
Articulate building science principles and green building program requirements to a project team as well as recommendations and results of energy analyses.
Effectively communicate in written and spoken English.
Review of architectural and mechanical drawings and specifications & prepare energy plan review reports
Identify energy saving and green building measures to maximize performance if existing designs
Create energy simulations and analyses using eQUEST and/or EnergyPlus
Analyze costs and benefits associated with energy efficiency measures
Revise energy models and/or analyses to reflect as-built conditions using field data.
Complete program documentation and respond to review comments

Required Skills and Experience
The role requires a self-starter able to work independently in a large office environment.
Relevant Industry Skills:
Bachelor?s degree in Engineering or Architecture
2 to 4 years? consecutive work experience
Working knowledge of high performance systems and energy efficiency
Experience working on green building projects that have either achieved or pursued LEED certification and incentive programs.
Required technical knowledge:
ASHRAE Standards 90.1, 62.1, and 62.2
Commercial & Residential HVAC systems and design
ENERGY STAR Multifamily High-Rise, State and Local Utility incentive programs
Cost estimating
Personal Qualities:
Attention to detail with strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently
Meet deadlines and be flexible to changing deadlines
Well-developed interpersonal skills, maturity, credibility, confidence and integrity
Focused and highly self-motivated
Able to work independently as well as close collaboration with other staff members and multiple client project teams
