HRVs with Active Chilled Beams

I?ve been attempting to model a building that has two AHUs complete with HRVs that serve active chilled beams, FCUs and displacement ventilation. Based on some threads I?ve seen on here, I?ve set up the air to supply from the HRVs through a dummy zone and to the subsequent air systems that model the ACBs, FCUs, etc.

I?ve ran the model and no air is making its way back from the zones served by the ACBs, FCUs ,etc to the HRVs. How is this accomplished? Thanks

Darryl,
This is probably the most common work-around situation in eQUEST. I?ve heard a rumor that some brave modeler out there uses a dummy zone for heat recovery by adding just the right space load (on a separate meter) to the dummy zone to tweak the return air temperature back to the HRV. I tend not to read the ?dummy zone? posts so this might be more common than I am aware. Instead, I suggest you abandon the dummy zone approach and model the AHU/HRV using the Induction Unit system type. The IU system allows heat recovery and zonal CHW coils, but does have its drawbacks (e.g. no VAV). You might need to break out the FCUs as separate systems to account for the fan energy. I haven?t been ?fortunate? enough yet to model displacement ventilation but perhaps another eQUEST work-arounder will chime in.

Bill
