STANTEC Building Energy Simulation Professional (Job #2015-21514)
Overview
Stantec's Vancouver based Sustainable Solutions team is a collaborative and creative group of multidisciplinary sustainability and energy management professionals. We provide professional consulting in support of high quality and high performance projects, including performance engineering, LEED facilitation, energy management, and energy simulation services. We work with a diverse group of clients and project types in the health care, education, institutional, airport, commercial, and community development sectors.
Responsibilities
We are looking for a self-motivated engineer with specialized expertise in sustainable design, energy efficiency, and building energy simulation. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership to a wide range of green building and sustainable design projects.
Key responsibilities include:
* Provide building performance modeling to assess energy and thermal performance.
* Identify design strategies that improve energy performance, indoor air quality, and thermal comfort.
* Prepare building analysis reports to present results of energy and thermal modeling, greenhouse gas emissions analysis, and other research findings.
* Prepare and deliver presentations to clients and/or design teams.
* Prepare LEED documentation associated with energy modeling; assist with coordination of other LEED documentation as necessary.
* Provide coaching and mentorship to junior technologists and engineers in project execution
Qualifications
* Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; those with a related Bachelor's degree may also be considered
* Minimum 3 -5 years of experience in energy-efficient system design and simulation.
* Experience with thermal comfort analysis, CFD (for natural ventilation and displacement ventilation), daylight simulation, life-cycle cost analysis, and/or existing building auditing preferred.
* Strong background in energy-efficient system design and simulation, daylighting, LEED rating systems, energy analysis studies, and energy management & incentive programs.
* Sound knowledge of HVAC and lighting systems, building control systems, energy conservation measures, greenhouse gas emission, and building physics.
* LEED Accreditation.
* Experience with simulation software: IES
* RETScreen, HAP, TRACE, and/or Hot2000 experience an asset.
* Experience integrating BIM tools such as Revit with simulation tools such as IES an asset.
* Understanding of LEED building rating systems.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills and an ability to provide excellent client service.
* A commitment to sustainable design are essential for this position.
* Eligibility for APEGBC membership aqs an EIT or P.Eng.
