Position Opening: Software Engineer (Java, SQL)
The PositivEnergy Practice, LLC (PEP) has an open position for an enthusiastic and skilled Software Engineer with a strong technical background in Java and SQL Database Management for our Chicago, IL office.
PEP is a leading engineering and energy company. Our services include mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design; the development and implementation of high-performance, low-energy engineering solutions for new buildings; the cultivation of greening strategies for existing buildings; energy master planning and DeCarbonization for open space; infrastructure and natural assets and parametric modeling of cities and campuses.
We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Clean Technologies division to lead the advancement of a parametric modeling tool to compute, synthesize, visualize and inform the planning and DeCarbonization of new and existing buildings, campuses and cities for PEP's clients. This opportunity requires a self-motivated individual who is goal orientated and can work independently to meet agreed deliverables and deadlines.
Required Programming Language / Design Skills and Job Responsibilities:
* Expert Java user (5+ years of professional experience)
* SQL (5+ years)
* Virtual Basic Scripting (5+ years)
* C#, C+, Python, Google Earth API development (Desirable)
* Ability to plan, conduct, coordinate and deliver against agreed timeline
* Ability to maintain overall project quality
* Work in close contact with clients, engineers, contractors, equipment vendors and the entire design team
* Interface with clients and attend meetings
* Experience in integrating multiple programs into a single synthesized tool
* Ability to make effective presentations to internal and external clients
* Proficiency in the use of CAD/BIM tools and appropriate engineering calculation software
* MS Outlook, Excel and Word
Licensure and Accreditation Requirements:
* Minimum Requirement: Bachelor Computer Science / Computer Engineering from an Accredited University
Relevant Experience: Candidate shall have minimum 5+ years' experience in Software Engineering with expert experience in Java. Relevant Industry specific experience might include;
* Energy Modeling Software Development
* Engineering System Software Programming
* Building Physics Scripting / Programming
* Architecture / Planning / HVAC Design Optimization
