Position Opening: Energy Modeler/Building Performance Simulation Engineer
The PositivEnergy Practice, LLC (PEP) has an immediate open position for an enthusiastic and skilled Energy Modeler/Building Performance Simulation Engineer with a strong technical background in HVAC Design and Simulation for our Chicago, IL office.
PEP is a leading engineering and energy company. Our services include mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design; the development and implementation of high-performance, low-energy engineering solutions for new buildings; the cultivation of greening strategies for existing buildings; and energy master planning and DeCarbonization for open space, infrastructure and natural assets.
PEP is looking for an Energy Modeler to join their Clean Technologies Division to work within a team of advanced building simulation specialists. This opportunity is suitable for an experienced Energy Modeler/Building Performance Simulation Engineer who is looking to advance their career and work in a project leading role, on a wide variety of international projects within a firm dedicated solely to high performance design.
Job Responsibilities:
* Work within the Clean Technologies Team to provide coordinated Building Performance Simulations, including Energy Modeling, Energy Conservation Measure Analysis, Daylight Simulations, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Radiation Modeling and Renewable Energy Studies
* Provide Energy Modeling for conceptual evaluation of high performance Envelope and HVAC systems
* Energy Modeling for ASHRAE 90.1 Compliance, LEED v3.0 Compliance, Existing Building's Assessments
* Ability to plan, conduct, coordinate and deliver against agreed timeline
* Ability to maintain overall project quality
* Work in close contact with clients, architects, HVAC engineers, contractors, equipment vendors and the entire design team
* Interface with clients and attend meetings
Required Skills / Licensure and Accreditation Requirements:
* Bachelor Mechanical Engineering / Architectural Engineering from an Accredited University
* Minimum of 3 year experience in the use of either EnergyPlus, EQuest, DOE-2, IES-VE or EDSL-TAS
* Desirable experience in the use of Trane/Trace, Ecotect, Fluent, CFDesign or Radtherm,
* Competency in the use of AutoCAD and/or Revit
* Desirable competence in Rhino, Grasshopper or Sketchup
* Competency in the use of Microsoft Powerpoint, Excel and Word
Relevant Experience: Candidate should have a minimum of 3+ year experience in an Architectural and/or HVAC Engineering field performing Energy Modeling and/or Building Performance Simulations.
