Position Title: Assistant/Associate/ or Full Professor of Architecture in Environmental Building Design
Job Overview: The Department of Architecture + Interiors at Drexel University seeks qualified applicants for a full-time position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor beginning August 1, 2013. This is a tenure-track or with-tenure appointment. We are seeking an energetic colleague who will be responsible for maintaining and extending the discipline of architecture through their research, teaching and participation in the governance of the Department and College.
Qualifications: The Department seeks candidates with an established research agenda in the area of performance-driven analysis utilizing computational modeling and simulation. Applicants should possess a Master of Architecture and/or a Ph.D. in the applied sciences. A record of successful grant applications is desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with design faculty and University partners integrating advanced simulation research with the means, methods and practices of evidence-based design. This position offers an internationally competitive salary, substantial startup funds and the necessary university infrastructure to support advanced research activities. Rank at appointment is commensurate with experience.
Essential Functions:
* This is an entirely new position for the Department and the selected candidate's grant-funded research in performance-driven simulation will advance the University's capacity to evaluate and develop prototypes that enhance building processes.
* The University administration is particularly interested in supporting collaborative, cross-disciplinary research and the selected candidate is expected to provide leadership in the recruitment and organization of additional University hires that will advance the research agenda listed above.
* Teaching and serving as research advisor to students in the Architecture + Interiors Department
