BLDG-SIM 25th Anniversary

25 years ago today the BLDG-SIM mailing list started:

https://onebuilding.org/archive/bldg-sim-onebuilding.org/1999-March/000229.html

Thanks to a wonderful community for supporting this all
these years!

The use of the BLDG-SIM and eQUEST-users mailing lists has
decreased in the last few years and if someone want to take
over and help provide the modeling community with a
different platform for a good discussion, interesting
announcements, debates of confounding questions, and the
occasional bad joke, please let me know.

Your faithful servant,

Jason

(apologies for the cross posting)

March 4 1999, what a momentous occasion for our field. Thank you Jason for bringing us together for all of those years. BLDG-SIM was the first mailing list that I ever joined.

Many thanks indeed, Jason!

...and for those who are interested in taking a trip down memory lane,
please have a look at the newsletter edition (April 2019) where we
celebrated the 20th anniversary with an article written by Jason and Clayton
https://ibpsa.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/IBPSANews-29-1.pdf

...and even further down that lane, in the IBPSA newsletter (April 2016)
which includes an interview with Jason about the bldg.-sim mailing list
https://ibpsa.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/IBPSANews-26-1.pdf

Happy reading! :-)

Dear Jason and friends,

I came here seeking help with ASHRAE, coming from a European, sorry I can't
say that *cough Brexit*... coming from a British perspective. I'm also a
luddite, so I resisted moving to other platforms.

This is a niche place with a breadth of knowledge that is not available
anywhere else. How do we keep niches like this going? I've not engaged as
much in recent years, but it has been useful when I have.

Anyway... Happy birthday BLDG-SIM, you spring chicken, you!

Hello all:
I have been using the BLDG-SIM website since its inception. I still use it to communicate questions to the group. I hail from the DOE-2.1A day of 1984, so the inception of this Web Site was a Gog send. I hope it doesn't shut down !!
And congratulations to Jason and team. His Cubbies FINALLY won the World Series !!
