Buro Happold is an international multidisciplinary consulting
engineering practice that succeeds through the individual and
collaborative skills of its people. Our offices are expanding and we are
looking for a team leader to head our Building Analytics Group in
Chicago and New York.
Job Purpose:
We are looking for a motivated team leader to head our building
analytics group. This group is responsible for computational analysis
related to energy efficiency, building physics, life cycle costs
analysis and other analytical design services. The successful
candidate(s) will have experience in design and simulation of mechanical
systems including heating, cooling, heat rejection, air distribution,
ventilation, building automation and controls. Applicants should have a
strong understanding of modelling and analysis techniques related to
building systems, facades, and controls as well as the use of DOE2, IES
VE, or Energy Plus. PE licence with an experience in low energy building
engineering is a plus. The work will include executing and reviewing
building simulations, providing strategic design advice to client teams,
and assisting in design documentation and specification on a wide
variety of building types and scales. The ideal candidate will also be
required to perform analysis, which will range from simple desktop
studies to comprehensive life cycle assessments of a variety of energy
conversation measures.
Qualifications:
* Master's degree related to Building Science and/or Mechanical
Engineering
* Energy Modelling Software experience (eg: DOE-2, eQuest,
EnergyPlus, IES, TRNSYS)
* Working knowledge of ASHRAE standard 90.1 and related energy
standards and modelling mythologies
Qualifications (a plus):
* Professional Engineer in Illinois and/or New York
* High-performance Building Design Professional Certified from
ASHRAE
* Building Energy Modelling Professional (BEMP)
* Certified Energy Managers (CEM)
* Building Automation Controls Experience
* Commissioning and retro commissioning experience
* Work experience
* Demonstrated project management and leadership skills
Requirements:
* Field visits to various sites in area and region (potential
around the US)
* Perform energy analysis and prepare report/presentation
deliverables
* Manage client relationships for energy efficiency products
* Team leadership skills and organizational techniques
* Develop design strategies, conceptual and schematic options
* Preliminary cost-estimating and calculation of payback periods
* Fluent in written and spoken English
