[Bldg-sim] Revit gbXML to IES

Dear all,

We're hitting a few snags when importing a gbXML from a large Revit model
into IES with respect to the following issues:

- Bringing all missing surface areas down to zero (during model
checking)
- Bringing sunshades (on curtain walls) with horizontal cylindrical
tubes in them in. Vertical fin sunshades on punched openings are importing
fine.
- Bringing all curtain wall glazing in as transparent panels. We
checked over and over to make sure all panels within the curtain wall are of
the same type, some come in as transparent, some come in as opaque.

If anyone has dealt with and overcome these issues, pointers are highly
appreciated.

Thanks,

Ramana Koti, LEED AP

Paul,

Where can I find information on Ruiska? A net search yielded no
information and only some minor references to it in a GSA document.

Thanks,

I imagine may be waiting quite some time before this issue is
fully resolved. IES have been working on this for quite a few years and
the gbxml import has always been a bit flaky, let alone the fact it is
only a geometry import. If you want to look at true BIM modelling,
maybe you could check out Ruiska which is meant to be able to do it
properly.

The correct spelling is RIUSKA. It is a energy calc program developed by
Olof Granlund Oy http://www.granlund.fi which uses a version of DOE and can
exchange data using IFC's.
