WTWHP with ERU 100% OA and WSHP

Dear eQuest users,

I am working on a project that has WSHP conditioning all my spaces but
I also have energy recovery units with 100% OA and the OA is conditioned
by WTWHP's .

Did anybody tried this kind of system before because each idea I have
and tried to apply into eQuest does not work for me today.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you.

Crina, what I have done in the past that is similar is:
1. in the Wizard, model your DOAs as hydronic chilled water and hot water units and the rest of your units as WSHPs
2. in Detailed Edit, add a 2-pipe loop, a heat pump chiller, a ground source heat exchanger loop, and a lake/well ground source heat exchanger.
3. In Detailed Edit, convert the DOA coils to the 2 pipe loop and remove the chilled water and hot water system.

That should leave you with a WSHP system and a ground loop WTWHP system. If you want to attach the WTWHPs to the WSHP loop, look up the eQuest literature on the Heat Pump Chiller option and see if there is a way to do this.

I have not found it possible to create this type if system in eQuest. Use
of a DOA system with an energy recovery ventilator is problematic even
without the WTWHP. What I have done is create an energy recovery ventilator
for each zone, and adjust the COP and capacities of the zone heat pumps to
account for the additional capacity and different efficiency of the WTWHP
unit.

I have had no real luck with WTWHP's in eQuest, and I don't know of anyone
who has used them successfully.

The system you describe can be created in EnergyPlus (though not easily).

I tried the first system described below yesterday and I didn't have
any luck until now to work the way it's supposed to.

I will try today again the first system and then try the second one and
see.

Thank you for all your inputs and help.
