Our next webinar will provide useful and interesting insights into the design and modelling of a challenging net-zero healthcare building that not only minimised energy use and carbon emissions, but which was also designed for "health and wellbeing" to maximise natural light and external views for patients and staff.
Team DeeBees recently won the "Best Energy Performance" award at SimBuild 2016, the ASHRAE-IBPSA US energy modelling conference. The competition challenged teams to design a net-zero energy healthcare building in Nebraska, with each team using different energy modelling software. Team DeeBees used DesignBuilder, and on 6th October we will be presenting a more detailed look at the team's work to showcase their design and the way they used DesignBuilder to enhance the design process. During the webinar the DeeBees team leader Jim Dirkes and DesignBuilder coaches Dave Cocking and Andy Tindale will illustrate the processes and tools used by the team, from the initial climate analysis that informed the HVAC and renewables strategy through early-stage and on to detailed modelling. You will learn how the team were able to maximise daylight and views to the external environment without compromising thermal performance, and how DesignBuilder's advanced cost-benefit analysis tools were used to make optimal design decisions that saved around 0.7 million dollars in construction costs alone. Ultimately the team produced a design which is cost-effective in terms of both construction and operation, practical, comfortable and replicable for different site locations.
