[TRNSYS-users] Trombe Wall - Type 36

Hello Everyone,

I wish to modell a Trombe wall (type 36) with TRNbuld (type 56).
I have read different answers in the archives, all of them different and
not so clear from my point of view.

My question is the following: how can I make sure that the heat fluxes and
temperatures in Type 56 are the same as in Type 36?

For the temperature, it is possible to define a trombe wall in TRnbuild
with a type boundary (with back ceof. = 0,001 kJ/h/K/m2 and set Tboundary =
Toutput 13 of Type 36 (ie = Temp of inside surface of the trombe wall.

For the heat fluxes, it is also easy to implement the ventilatio heat flow
in Type 56 with flos rate and Temperature of flox from ouputs 8 and 9 of
Type 36.

Now what about the wall heat transfer from the Trombe wall to the zone?

Since the Trombe wall in Type 56 is a boundary wall it has no thermal
resistance.
What about the inside loss coef. of type 36 (input .6)?

Calculations show that output from type 36 (wall heat transfer to zone) is
very different from the wall heat transfer from type 56. Idem for the
losses.

Could one use a wall surface gain instead of a boundary condition on the
temperature? How to define the trombe wall in type 56 then?

Thank you for your help.

Hello Florence,

attached to this mail you can find a short instruction on how to couple Type56 with some construction element.
The idea is to model in Type 56 a dummy construction with a high resistance such that no energy flows through the surface from one side to the other. The energy flow from inside the surface to both sides is modelled by the TYPE36. These heat fluxes on the sides are set as ?surface gains? to the surface in Type 56.

Please let me know if you find this helpful or need further help.

Best regards
Jakob
