Spandrel Modeling

Hi everybody!

I?m modeling spandrel sections. I have the conductance calculated and just want to make sure I get the SC, VT and outside emissivity correct.

I have both the shading coefficient and visible transmittance set at 0 ? please correct me if wrong.

What should I set the outside emissivity to?

Thanks!
Darryl

Spandrel panels are exterior opaque walls, not glazing. SC and VT do not get set for opaque walls. You can building your spandrel using layer-by-layer or by simply specifying an R-value. A typical spandrel panel with 4? of semi-rigid insulation realizes about R-6 depending on the ratio of spandrel to framing.

Hi Brian,
That is interesting about the MECB. If you define the spandrel as a window, does it get included in the glazing area for the FWDR calculation? Or does it get included in the opaque walls? If included in the glazing area, it could reduce the prescriptive glazing area significantly.
