Soil temperature and humidity in South China

Hi, everyone
I am trying to find the monthly-average soil temperature and humidity with different depth (say, 20cm, 50cm and below 50 cm) in Guangzhou, China. But all I can find are the cities in west China or in Hongkong, which is located in south China too. Does anyone know where I can find these data for Guangzhou? Or how big the differences are between HK and GZ? If it is not a very big difference, I think I can just use HK data.

Any comments or suggestions on this topic are highly appreciated.

Thanks!

Zhoulun,

There is little real measured data on soil temperatures and humidities
in different locations. What is found in the weather files are all
calculated using a simple equation developed by the late Prof. Tam
Kusuda of the National Bureau of Standards (now NIST) in the early 80's.
It's basically a sine curve where the lag increases and the amplitude
flattens the further down into the ground you go. The steady state
constant deep ground temperature is very well approximated as the
average annual air temperature plus 1 C. I can send you the code in
Fortran from DOE-2 if you're interested.

The only time to worry is if your site is near to a volcanic hot spot or
hot springs. The other source of ground temperatures are well water
temperatures. For China, you'd probably have better luck asking
geologists or geographers in China, rather than the readers of BLDG-SIM.
