EnergyPlus IDFs, gbXML and Bentley/Autodesk

This is a simple question that I tought of on the gbXML webinar thinking it would be a basic routine on both Bentley?s AECOsim and Autodesk?s Vasari systems, but haven?s found an answer so far. That is:

How can I import EnergyPlus (5, 6 and 7) idf files with all my current modeling information to the environments? From what I have seen there always is a way to start from a gbXML, but how do I go from a "idf" file to a gbXML or straight to AECO or Vasari?

Also, how do I keep compatibility between my AECO / Vasari simulations and a EnergyPlus model?

Ok, but it would make more sense if this capability was buit in on both softwares... specially on AECOsim that uses the EP engine... I surely would like to have all the energyplus power for "freedom" on object settings (specially HVAC and green energy) working in parallel to the better interface and automation offered by the simulation suites. Would that be fair?

Openstudio I think has that capability. If not it is in the works.

AECOsim Energy Simulator currently allows user to import HVAC systems from IDFs to start building their HVAC models. We will be implementing more importing capabilities over the next months. Users have the option of starting with one of the 28 preconfigured HVAC systems in AES and modifying those to match their system configuration. These preconfigured HVAC systems give users access to all the EnergyPlus inputs required for each system. Users can also create their own systems and save them for future use.

AES offers three means of creating geometry - Conceptual model (select building and space types, set overall building height, weather location, % glazing, number of stories, draw the outline, select zoning, and HVAC system); 2-D (import floor plans - DGN, DWG, DXF, define rooms); and gbXML (import 3-D model, attribute spaces).

When Energy Simulator starts a simulation, it automatically creates a user-readable IDF in the project directory.

Dear All,
I registered for the webinar on " How gbXML Works with New Energy
Performance Software from Autodesk and Bentley " but unfortunately missed
it due to its off timing in India. Would it be possible to view the
recording of this webinar?

If available, also direct me to similar recorded webinars.

Many thanks,

With Regards,
Kanagaraj

- I was sigend up for the webnar, but unfortunately missed the webnaiar
due to my attendance of the design builder training I was at at the time.
still very interested in future versions of micro station/E+(ACOSIM) Tho,,
Once the latest v7.1 iteration ACEOSIM is released I am very excited
indeed, but have to say the design builder training and software
are excellent and is the most advanced energy plus interface currently
available! -- http://www.designbuilderusa.com/
