http://www.ashrae.org/certification/page/2491 Though I don't know of any requirements out there at this time for a Certified Energy Modeler, this program seems to give credit to what we do. Just wondering if anyone else had something to say about this, or if anyone has taken the exam. Maybe share the experience as a lessons-learned sharing of information.

For fun I'm reading the IMC2009 inwhich subsection 312.1 is requiring energy modeling in accordance with ASHRAE/ACCA Standard 183. Was this ASHRAE standard on the test? Oooh more fun reading code, guess I know what I'm getting for Xmas.

That's great, congrats! Was this a personal endeavor, or to fulfill a goal at work, or mandatory had to pass to get a project for the company? Q's: 1. 60% HOF/40% 90.1-G? 2. Were the questions, tricky like how do you not do this and give you answers like not do this, or do this? 3. memorize calculations or they provide? 4....

I have taken it and it is hard!!! But I passed and I guess that's all that matters. Very long and questions right out of chapter 19 of ASHRAE HOF that fortunately I had read ahead of time.

HI I am studying for the BEMP exam right now and finding it a real shot in the dark… there is NO info out there to help prepare for the actual questions! Did you take it? Any insight to share? I don’t have an engineering background and am worried about questions on fan laws and other stuff I have no idea about… Help!

Yeah, there is a little info out there, but the best thing to study is ASHRAE chapter 19, as mentioned.

Hi Everyone in the forum.

For BEMP exam, is there any calculation? By using SI or I-P unit?

Thanks,

James

Yes, there are calculations required. You get an appendix for constants. I haven't taken it and wouldn't be able to tell you exactly what you get, but the BEMP exam is calculation heavy from what I have heard.
