We will teach you simulation techniques and methods to enable more sustainable design practices using the enhanced features of our latest release of the Virtual Environment. IES is a registered GBCI Education Provider.
Each day is fully interactive allowing you to bring up your questions and concerns to our experts and get the answers you need to be successful on your projects.
What will the course cover?
Day 1: GEOMETRY & DAYLIGHT
This workshop will cover geometry & daylight and will look at model geometry in both the IESVE and from Revit.
* Intro to all tools, materials and training overview
* Weather/Climate Analysis
* Model Geometry:Revit to IES-VE
* Model Geometry in IES-VE
* Daylight Analysis
* Lighting Design
* Daylight for LEED
* Glare Analysis
* 3-D Daylight Simulation

Day 2: HVAC LOADS SIZING AND ENERGY MODELING
This workshop will walk through the steps required to calculate building & system loads, then use those loads as part of an energy analysis. Workshop highlights will include:

* Introduction to ApacheHVAC and Integrated Systems Management (ISM)
* Building and HVAC System options
* Minimum ventilation requirements (62.1 & 170)
* HVAC System load sizing, analysis & reports (includes airside and waterside)
* Defining design day weather, climate, envelope, internal gains & schedules Detailed ASHRAE Heat Balance Method room load calculations
Day 3: ADVANCED HVAC MODELING
This workshop will focus on integrating advanced HVAC systems with sub hourly annual energy simulation. Highlights will include:
* Advanced VAV systems with min OA reset and/or zone-CO2-based DC
* DOAS with floor-by-floor AHUs and interzonal transfer-air configurations
* Low energy systems: Evaporative cooling, radiant cooling, chilled beams, displacement ventilation
* Waterside HVAC, including integrated WSE and Thermal Storage
* Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) modeling approaches
* Whole building energy analysis with integrated advanced HVAC systems
* ASHRAE Standard 90.1 PRM and ECB Modeling
