how to make a cooling load profile?

Hi everybody,

I need to generate an 8760 hour cooling load profile for a generic building. The purpose is to capture the total load that a bldg's AC equipment will need to meet.

I am NOT trying to simulate a specific building - just a generic "office", or "school", or "hospital", etc. To that end I dashed off a model w/o entering a single user input - all SD Wizard defaults. Assumption being that the defaults are suitable for "typical buildings".

'----> Is this a reasonable assumption (using all defaults to represent "typical" bldg)?
'----> Or are there some inputs - like system parameters - that I must define in order for the model to produce ball-park accuracy?
'----> Which variables should I pull from the Hourly Blocks to make an 8760 hour report showing total cooling load equipment would need to meet?
*----> I noticed my "Building Loads" cooling load data (2 variables: sensible, latent) are much greater than "Building HVAC" cooling load data (1 variable: "coils+losses+gains"). "Building Loads" shows 472 kBtuh at the peak while "Building HVAC" shows just 296 kBtuh at same time. What is going on here?
*----> Finally, where do I find the OA Ventilation latent load?

My larger objective is to develop profiles for a fair size list of building types with the most common equipment combinations (location: Texas).

I believe the cooling load depends on the equipment type to a certain extent, since some loads are added by the system components, such as fan or pump energy. Therefore, in order to develop a cooling (and heating) profile for each building type/equipment type combination, I suspect I'll need to ensure that the system (and/or plant) is defined appropriately.

'----> Is that the right way to think about it?
'----> Which additional variables would I need to pull for the load profile for a bldg. w/ a chilled water system?
'----> Any suggestions?

(As you may have guessed, I'm familiar with eQUEST but have only limited experience.)

Thanks for any advice,
