Hours & % of hours outside throttling range do not match

1 post / 0 new

Hi all,

I am running into a red flag on the BEPS report and I wonder if anybodyelse
has run into this before.

In my most recent runs (some 10 versions in a day and a half) I see the
following inconsistency in the BEPS report % of hours outside throttling
range Vs Hours outside throttling range

PERCENT OF HOURS ANY SYSTEM ZONE OUTSIDE OF THROTTLING RANGE = 0.19

PERCENT OF HOURS ANY PLANT LOAD NOT SATISFIED
= 0.00

HOURS ANY ZONE ABOVE COOLING THROTTLING RANGE
= 0

HOURS ANY ZONE BELOW HEATING THROTTLING RANGE
= 99

I would infer that as - a 0.19 % of hours to be 0.19* 0.01* 8760 hrs =
16.64 hrs, but the 'hours below heating throttling range' says 99
Also, the system summary indicates a 0% hours outside throttling range
(which very well might be a rounded off number of 0.19) and the system
hours outside throttling range hours add upto 51 (even if there are
overlapping no. of hours, the total called out in the BEPS should be <51)
right?. So, I am not sure where eQuest is getting the number '160' from.

further, I continued with my next version, corrected an outside air
requirement in a zone, thus increasing my hours outside heating throttling
range and the BEPS looks like this

PERCENT OF HOURS ANY SYSTEM ZONE OUTSIDE OF THROTTLING
RANGE = 0.19

PERCENT OF HOURS ANY PLANT LOAD NOT SATISFIED
= 0.00

HOURS ANY ZONE ABOVE COOLING THROTTLING RANGE
= 0

HOURS ANY ZONE BELOW HEATING THROTTLING RANGE
= 160

no change in % hours outside throttling range, but the hours below heating
throttling range increased. System summary again says 0% and system summary
hours outside throttling range adds up to 58 hrs.

In all my previous runs the % and no. of hours are fairly proportional &
matches the % called out in the system summary.
for eg.

PERCENT OF HOURS ANY SYSTEM ZONE OUTSIDE OF THROTTLING
RANGE = 7.66

PERCENT OF HOURS ANY PLANT LOAD NOT SATISFIED
= 0.00

HOURS ANY ZONE ABOVE COOLING THROTTLING RANGE
= 657

HOURS ANY ZONE BELOW HEATING THROTTLING RANGE
= 101

System summary says 8% outside throttling
range;

Am I running into some fatal error building up? Any pointers will be great.
I will try to dig into the documentation too to see how these numbers are
calculated.

Thanks!
