Dear All

Could any one list the executive steps of generating a TMY2 file rather than referring me to any of the related published works, i would appreciate it very much.

Kind regards,
Dr. Mohammad Fahmy

Well at the risk of referring you to the published work, the user?s manual describes the methodology quite thoroughly as well as what all of the fields are. I would think it would be a good starting point to developing your ?own TMY2? datasets:

If you are looking for someone to summarize that work, I am sure there are consultants on this list that could undertake that effort at an hourly rate.

I was looking for this information. EPW format is convenient for writing short programs. Attached is the summary of the file contents. I have also included it in the website - http://bepan.info/weather Varkie

It's useful to distinguish between TMY2 as a data set and as a data format. The selection procedure is basically the same between TMY, TMY2, and TMY3, with some changes in the weighting of parameters. This procedure has become adopted by virtually all other (US at least) efforts, including ASHRAE, CEC, etc.

The format, however, has evolved, w/ TMY3 choosing a CSV format that's easier to import to a spreadsheet program. I don't see any benefit to staying w/ the TMY2 fixed field format.

Dear Joe and All;

Many thanks for your valuable replies, i'll have a deep look and get back to you if you allow me. However, for the time being it is beneficial for me to know the procedure in terms of flow chart if any one of you can provide me one !!

With regard to the CSV extension of the new TMY3, i agree it is very useful and easy but to bypass using the TMY3-TMY2 convertor, the recent data sets can be compiled for the time being into TMY2 for usage by building simulation tools.

Kind regards,
Dr. Mohammad Fahmy
