Hello All,
Does anyone have experience using gas driven heat pumps in eQuest?
I am trying to model gas driven heat pump compressors (GAS-HEAT-PUMP) for system type PVAVS; however, the model is not reporting any heating energy usage in the PS-F (energy usage summaries) and SS-Q (heat pump heating summaries).
Ive developed two models one with Electric heat pump (EHP) and the other with gas driven heat pump (GHP) for comparison. The all parameters of the models are identical except with regards to the heat pump motor type and associated parameters. Ive also assigned electric and fuel meters respectively to the system. The models are reporting no unmet heating or cooling hours and the same part load conditions in the SS-R (Zone performance summary) so I know that GHP model is heating. The fan energy is identical for both models and the cooling energy is comparable (though I believe low for the GHP model).
Im beginning to think this is a bug in DOE2; or am I missing something important here?
Im considering on punting on modelling this directly and instead modelling the units as EHP using custom performance curves based on the GHP manufacturer data and applying the HIR in lieu of EIR, then converting electric KWH back to MBTU in post processing. I think that this would be conservative considering the EHP cannot take advantage of gas engine exhaust heat recovery during heating.
Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
