system type workaround dilemma

Dear All,

I'm starting to build a LEED energy model. Its a small university classroom
building around 5000 sf. The proposed mechanical design is as follows:

Packaged VAV RTU with DX cooling and natural gas heating. Twelve PIU
terminals with electric heating coils.

For the proposed design model, I'm unable to select a system type or think
of an equivalent/workaround in eQUEST. Any ideas on how best to go about it
or if it is doable in eQUEST at all?

Thanks,
Ramana Koti.

does both the VAV RTU and the PIU serve the same spaces or is it a
core/shell design?

Use PIU - in detailed mode change the cooling source to DX. Set the
terminal units to parallel or series, or standard vav. Zone heat source to
electric, the ahu heat source to furnace. Seems straightforward unless I am
missing something in the question.

The Power Induction Unit system should meet your needs. When you select
the system at first it asks for a Chilled Water Loop but you can then
change it to DX Cooling and delete the CHW loop. The zone induction units
can be set at the zone level under the airflow tab.
