Hi everyone,
I'm trying to see how to apply the exception b in section G3.1.1 related to the peak thermal load for spaces under a baseline system 5 (VAV DX with hot water reheat).
The extract of section G3.1.1 exception b: ?If the baseline HVAC system type is 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10 use separate single-zone systems conforming with the requirements of System 3 or System 4 (depending on building heating source) for any spaces that have peak thermal loads that differ by 10 Btu/h?ft2 or more from the average of other spaces served by the system.?
The spaces under this system have the peak thermal loads below. The average peak cooling is 86 btu/h.ft2.
How would you apply the exception in this case? Would you select a system 3 for all rooms with a cooling load less than 76 btu/h.ft2. and greater than 96 btu/h.ft2.?
I am not sure if my interpretation of this sentence (that differ by 10 Btu/h?ft2 or more from the average of other spaces served by the system?) is correct.
Thanks for any insight you can provide.
