e Quest software crashing

Hi, I am new to e Quest and am working on a project but every time when I
create a water side HVAC system, the software crashes( turns off
automatically). Can anyone help me with this?
What is the main issue behind this?
And after several crashes the file failed to load next time.

Hi Hamza,

eQuest does not often shut down like that. There are two things I have found that will crash (auto-turn off) eQuest.
1. There is not enough RAM on your computer. It will use every byte of RAM you can give it!
2. It can crash if you are trying to assemble an HVAC configuration the eQuest does not support.

Here are my questions:
1. How many zones does your file have?
2. What components are you trying to assemble for the water side HVAC?
3. Is your .inp input file still intact; I.e. are all components there when you open the file in Notepad as text? If so, there may be a way to recover your file without starting over from scratch?

Further to this, I have seen models where the .pdl file becomes massive, and the model becomes unstable.?? Deleting the .pdl file can resolve the issue in that particular instance.

In my limited experience with eQuest, I have only experienced crashes when
collaborating with others and there is a version mismatch. Open the inp
with a text editor and verify the version and build and make sure that is
what you have installed.

You may need to turn on ?compatibility mode? to get it to run correctly. Find your eQuest shortcut, right click and select ?Properties.? Under ?compatibility? check the box for ?Run this program in compatibility mode for?? and pick ?Windows 8.? That?s what?s working for me currently, but if it doesn?t solve the issue try earlier windows versions as well.
