Dynamic glass for windows

Hi

Can someone give me a brief idea about modeling dynamic glass (brand: sage) in eQuest? Do I need to provide schedule for U-value, VT & SHGC? If yes, how can these schedules be defined? Please share some experience with me if you have done it in some of your project?

Thanks

Try " shading schedule" under window properties/blinds drapes

I am not sure if electro-chromatic glasses work like that way (drapes/blinds) in eQuest. I would say ?switching method? is the more appropriate method to define when we want to switch our glass type (depends upon internal loads) but I am still struggling to define the more appropriate switching schedule by looking at critical zone loads.

Can someone suggest more on this?

Thanks

I haven't used this yet, but there is a switching function in newer versions of eQUEST:

Hi Harshul

I have been doing dynamic glass analysis in eQuest for a while.
The default properties in the library is not exact to what the current
product offering is. If you are interested, I can share the eQuest_lib file
for our product : View Dynamic Glass.

To model in eQuest, you need to use the switch control. the 2 main options
I use are daylight controls and dir sol radiation control. you need to
select the tint state of EC for switch control and clear state for the
glass type.

Thanks for writing me. I need input on ?switch setting Low? & ?switch setting high?. What values that I use for them? Do I need to look for each & every zone when my heating load switches to cooling load and at that particular moment I need to read radiation (btu/hr-ft2) on my glass? I don?t have daylighting sensors in my building so most of my saving will be at HVAC side. Also, what about switching schedule? I feel tinting is not helpful during winters? My building is located at Vermont, it?s an hospital project with higher EUI & patient rooms covers envelope zones.

If you can, please share some work of yours & library that you were talking about.

Thanks a lot again

Hi Deepika,

It will be great if you shared your library file. Is the switching schedule in lieu of the switching low and high value trigger?
