We are seeking an experienced professional with a passion for high-performance buildings to join our sustainability practice. Located in our Madison, WI office, this position plays active leadership roles in a range of project types: new construction and renovation, campus planning, carbon/climate action plans, green development standards, energy efficiency and conservation, and environmental policy projects. The successful candidate will work with our engineering teams and architectural partners on transformative projects around the globe. She/he needs to be comfortable engaging very early in the design process, offering new ideas and concepts, building rapport with clients, and working to develop the high performance design strategy for the project. She/he will provide leadership on relevant environmental issues from both technical and process perspectives, and will act as a project manager for individual sustainability projects, often providing technical leadership and ideation as well. The successful candidate will contribute to shaping our building performance practice, engaging with our nationwide team, and supporting internal educational and research.

Minimum Qualifications;

* BSME/BSAE (or other building science or engineering degree with applicable experience).
* 5+ years of relevant experience using building simulation tools. Working knowledge of all such areas of sustainability as the Living Building Challenge, LEED rating system and other performance evaluation systems, renewable energy, green building design, energy efficiency and conservation, carbon issues, etc. as well as be an expert in at least one of these areas.
* Strong knowledge of TRNSYS, DOE-2, eQUEST, IES-VE, or EnergyPlus.
* Strong fundamental skills in building engineering thermodynamics.
* Experience with airflow (CONTAM, OpenFoam, Phoenics), daylight modeling (Elum Tools, DIVA, Radiance, DAYSIM), scripting, Grasshopper tools, AutoCAD/Revit and/or SketchUp.

* Ability to give formal and informal presentations.
* Ability to work under pressure and strict timelines, and to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks.
* Ability to work effectively individually and within a team environment.
