Berkeley Lab?s Simulation Research Group (http://simulationresearch.lbl.gov/)
has open positions in the areas of Model Predictive Control, Modelica and
FMI-based HVAC and control simulation to support the design and operation
of building and district energy systems.
The incumbent will research, develop and conduct simulation-based and
full-scale experiments of Model Predictive Control algorithms for building
energy applications. The incumbent will also conduct research on how to
extend and apply these computing technologies in the redesign of EnergyPlus
to allow Modelica and FMI-based HVAC and control simulation in support of
research in urban energy systems.
This position requires
- experience in developing mathematical models for building energy
simulation and optimization,
- strong mathematical and software design and implementation skills for
modeling and optimization in the domain of building energy and control
systems, and
- a passion for developing computing programs, often involving multiple
tools and languages, for the buildings industry.
