Development Engineer. This position provides an opportunity to become a
high-profile point person for the industry's flagship modeling
application TRACE 700, while working closely with industry-respected
application engineers as critical contributors to the development team.

experts to gain insight into building modeling trends and cutting-edge
building simulation. This position also provides opportunities to work
closely with a very dynamic software development team.
POSITION SUMMARY
Candidate will be responsible for researching, designing, and developing
state-of-the-art HVAC applications with a primary focus on the TRACE
family of applications
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Execute software development activity, including HVAC modeling, code
writing and testing.
* Apply HVAC fundamentals to solve complex building challenges.
* Develop a clear understanding of customer requirements and meet or
exceed those expectations.
* Work in a team environment, which includes C.D.S. product engineers
and third-party development firms.
* Document software design from system level to detail level.
* Maintain, upgrade, and enhance production release software.
* Handle all details of assigned projects from inception to completion
within mutually agreed-upon timeframes.
* Occasionally support internal and external customers.
* Work with other software developers within Trane to ensure consistency
and integration of development efforts.
* Follow and help enhance departmental software development procedures.
* 5 - 10% travel required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related
engineering/computer science degree required. Master's degree preferred.
* Building simulation or thermal modeling experience preferred
* Emphasis in computer programming or related experience required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
* Systems modeling development experience - using FORTRAN required and
Microsoft? C++ preferred.
* Additional programming languages is a plus - such as capable in C#,
XML and experience with Crystal Reports.
* Project management experience with demonstrated creativity and results
preferred.
* Fundamental understanding of HVAC products, systems, and knowledge of
construction industry preferred.
* Experience with analysis simulation and design software preferred.
* Experience with the use of efficient coding techniques required.
* Experience creating and implementing test plans preferred.
* Must be an innovative self-starter capable of setting and meeting
goals and deadlines, and of making critical business decisions.
* Must have proven ability to perform effectively in a team environment.
* Must be capable of grasping technical engineering details to provide
solutions for customers.
* Will be required to successfully complete or to have successfully
completed the Graduate Training Program in La Crosse.
