Cogeneration Confusion

Hello all,

I can't seem to get my cogeneration system right! The results
look like the electricity use stays the same and then there is
some gas usage for lights, etc. I assume that means that the
gas from the generator is essentially powering the lights, but
why doesn't the electricity usage go down? I've seen other
posts like this but no answers... hoping someone has an answer.

Best,
Andrea

I don't know E-Quest well enough to say for sure, but if it has a
"Utility Cost" spreadsheet, that is where I would look for reductions in
electrical energy, not in the building usage.

Good luck and Happy Holidays!

Hi Andrea,

Technically the cogeneration shouldn't reduce your electricity consumption
-- the only thing is that the source of the electricity is different. The
differential is accounted for in the ES-E report of the SIM file.

Hope this helps,
