- Energy Performance Engineer
SB Partners is seeking an energy modeling professional for our
sustainable design and energy efficiency consulting practice. This position
will report directly to our Director of Building Performance. The ideal
candidate will be a detail-oriented problem solver who is able to handle
multiple tasks in a fast-paced consulting environment.
*Responsibilities:*
- Energy modeling of commercial buildings in support of LEED program
participation
- Consulting on LEED projects
- Supporting client participation in federal, state and municipal
energy efficiency programs
- Creating and manipulating spreadsheets and databases
- Working with standard software packages to benchmark building energy
use
- Preparation of technical reports, detailed calculations and other
prepared documents as requested by Management
*Requirements:*
- Bachelor?s degree in mechanical, electrical engineering or related
field (e.g., building science, architecture, physics, or mathematics)
- 1-3 years of direct professional experience in building mechanical
system design, energy modeling, commissioning and/or energy auditing
- Direct experience with 5-10 energy models for commercial projects by
consulting on, creating or reviewing compliance with ASHRAE Std. 90.1
- Experience with LEED projects
- Direct experience using energy modeling programs for commercial
buildings (eQUEST, EnergyPlus, Trace 700, Visual DOE, DesignBuilder, etc.)
- Knowledge of and experience with major environmental building codes
and standards (e.g., ASHRAE 90.1, ASHRAE 62, ASHRAE 55, ASHRAE 189, IECC)
- LEED AP with at least 1-2 years of related LEED experience
- CEM certification a plus
- Energy Auditing experience is a plus
- ASHRAE Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP) is a plus

- Commissioning Engineer
SB Partners are seeking a Commissioning Engineer to work closely with the
management team to support commissioning of new building and
retro-commissioning existing buildings consistent with USGBC LEED program
and ASHRAE Guideline 1.1-2007 protocols. This position will report directly
to our Senior Partner and will work with engineers, field personnel,
subcontractors and other technical support staff as needed.
*Responsibilities:*
- Design review of HVAC systems and Lighting control systems
- Project management
- Progress and commissioning report writing
- Construction site observation
- Preparing test procedures
- Ongoing client and construction team interface
- Lead project commissioning meetings
- Proactive problem identification and resolution
- Preparation of Commissioning Documentation that meets LEED program
requirements
*Requirements:*
- Bachelor?s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering
- 1-3 years engineering experience (combined HVAC system design and
field experience)
- Familiarity with USGBC LEED programs, especially LEED BD&C or GBOM,
and experience with high-performance building projects
- Proficient in MS Office software, especially Word and Excel
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Energy Auditing experience is a plus
- CEM certification a plus
