eQUEST version model changes

I have heard that opening a pd2 in a different version of eQUEST than
the version it was built in may cause some file changes. Does anybody
know details on this? I would like to be able to look at the pd2
without opening it in any one version and find which version it was
created in, in order to open it with it's original attributes.

If you open the .pdf file by right clicking on the file and selecting
'Open With' and choosing an appropriate text editor you can see which
version it was last run in. Something like this should be at the top of
the file:

Proj "eQUEST Project"

ProgramVersion = "eQUEST 3.61.5360"

BDBaseVersion = 20

ProductCode = "eQUEST"

If you open the PD2 file in notepad the first few lines will have something like:

Proj "My big energy model"
ProgramVersion = "eQUEST 3.60.5200"
BDBaseVersion = 19
ProductCode = "eQUEST"
...

I think that would show in my case eQuest 3.60 was the last version to run the file.

Opening older eQUEST files in newer versions will definitely change some
of the inputs and will give you different simulation numbers.
Furthermore, once you've opened the file in a newer version you can't
always go back to an older version. I've learned this the hard way with
version 3.62b. Definitely check what version you created the original
files in and use that for all of your runs.
