Overview:
In this role you will help our clients improve their buildings’ performance, delivering a wide variety of commercial, industrial and residential projects. You will work as part of a team primarily focused on building performance modelling/analysis using advanced building simulation software. The successful candidate will have a strong background and proficiency in Building Performance Engineering and good technical competencies. A detailed understanding of HVAC modelling is essential for this role. Excellent written and verbal communication of technical issues to technical and non-technical professionals will be key to success in the role.
Responsibilities include:
• Building Design Optimization through detailed building performance modelling and analysis using DesignBuilder/Energy Plus simulation software.
• Building performance modelling for rating systems such as LEED and BREEAM.
• Thermal Comfort Analysis and Overheating Risk Assessments (e.g. CIBSE TM59)
• CIBSE TM54 / NABERS modelling.
• Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) for building carbon (operational and embodied carbon calculations)
• Building Heating and Cooling load calculations.
• Liaising with clients, consultants and contractors.
• Writing technical reports (e.g. relating to any of the above analysis).
• Writing energy or sustainability reports
• Managing and co-ordinating multiple projects.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (building services, mechanical, or similar)
• Minimum of 3 years professional experience in Building Performance Modelling (DesignBuilder experience will be a distinct advantage but is not essential) or 3+ years mechanical (HVAC) design experience with some building performance modelling.
• Ability to understand and interpret design drawings and construction documents, including M&E system designs, layouts, schematics, specifications, sequence of operation documents and controls schematics.
• Excellent HVAC systems knowledge
• Basic knowledge of navigating BIM software such as AutoCAD and Revit
• Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
Desirable skills:
• Proficiency in DesignBuilder
• Experience in LEED Energy Modelling
• Qualification in Energy Management, e.g. CEM or CMVP.
• On-site experience commissioning or testing HVAC systems
• Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS)
• Familiarity with ASHRAE and CIBSE guides on HVAC design and energy efficiency.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Revit
