With working experience in engineering consulting as well as academic background on HVAC systems and building simulation, I believe I can be a good candidate. During my study in school, besides enriching myself with professional knowledge on building environment and HVAC system, I strived for opportunities on building simulation research and practical energy audit projects. With specialty on CFD and energy simulation on Ansys CFX, IES-VE, FLUENT, DesignBuilder and EnergyPlus, I was attracted by the charm of how simulation could guide the design. My simulation skills and experiences on practical building performance were enhanced greatly by involving in many projects in Buro Happold as a mechanical engineer, including steady and transient CFD simulation, natural ventilation study(combining desktop study, energy and CFD simulation for clarification), energy simulation based on ASHRAE 90.1, LEED documentation preparation, etc. I learnt how to coordinate with clients and other group in the company and provide profitable recommendations according to my simulation results. The retro-commissioning experience was another significant lesson. During this process, I learnt more about professional ways of building retro-commissioning and accessed practical system operation which was quite different with that in book due to more complicated and unpredictable loads and system environment. I was so proud of my work when our team got many positive feedbacks from clients about their actual energy savings after taking our suggestions on operation. Throughout my educational and working experiences, my communication and collaborative skills in a variety of team-based projects have been improved a lot. As a highly motivated member and a quick learner, I was highly praised by my supervisor on strong self-learning ability. For example, I learnt Ansys CFX only by self-searching documentations and studying tutorials and soon after I am responsible for all the CFD simulation projects and could efficiently complete the work. From the first day of my work, I never leave a project to the day of deadline which could prove my multi-task and time management ability. I am hoping to have any chance to join your team.
