Berkeley Lab?s Simulation Research Group (http://simulationresearch.lbl.gov/)
has an opening for Scientific Engineering Associate based in *Berkeley,
California*. In this role, you will apply energy modeling techniques to
simulate and evaluate performance of buildings and apply data-driven
approaches to analyze building performance data. We are looking for a
strong background in building performance simulation using EnergyPlus and
data analytics using data tools or customized scripting.
*Duties/Responsibilities*:
- Develop EnergyPlus simulation models based on building plans, drawings
and specifications.
- Run and quality control EnergyPlus models.
- Analyze simulation results and troubleshoot issues.
- Analyze buildings data using data-driven approaches to extract
insights.
- Collaborate with team members on joint tasks and activities.
- Present simulation results at project and team meetings.
- Contribute to the writing of technical reports or conference papers.
*Requirements*:
- Bachelor?s Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Architecture,
Mechanical Engineering or a related field and a minimum of 2 years of
relevant professional experience or the equivalent combination or education
and experience.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience using EnergyPlus to model and
evaluate the performance of building technologies.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of data analytics to analyze
building data.
- Programming knowledge of Python or C++.
*Preferred*:
- Master?s Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Architecture, Mechanical
Engineering or a related field in Building Science and Technologies.
- Knowledge of OpenStudio or other building energy modeling tools.
