With regards to opening a file started in 2.3 in 2.2, there are 4 LOADS keywords that have parentheses around them in 2.3 and not in 2.2. They are:
o PEOPLE-HG-LAT
o PEOPLE-HG-SENS
o NUMBER-OF-PEOPLE
o AREA/PERSON
You can either edit the .inp file with a text editor and remove the parentheses for these keywords or set these keywords to default in 2.3 before opening the file in 2.2. I also recommend setting the space occupancy schedules to default in 2.3 before opening in 2.2.
Note - before fixing these keywords, I often find the file opens in 2.2 with spaces missing so the result looks catastrophic.
At the system level, the OA-FLOW/PER also has parentheses around it in 2.3 and not 2.2. There are other system keywords that don't translate but I have found as long as I fix the LOADS keywords mentioned above, I can open a 2.3 file in 2.2 and then make any required system/plant keyword fixes. Depending on how the chiller efficiency is specified in 2.3, I have seen the chillers drop to the bottom of the component tree in 2.2.
With the reverse change (adding parentheses in the .inp or defaulting the listed keywords), a 2.2 file will open OK in 2.3 in my experience.
Cheers,
Brian
