Research Assistant (Grade 5) / Associate (Grade 6) in Urban overheating vulnerability mapping Welsh School of Architecture,

Dear all,

The Welsh School of Architecture of Cardiff University is currently seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant or Research Associate to join our team and work with Prof Zhiwen Luo on an exciting EPSRC-funded IAA project. The project aims to quantify the urban overheating risk and vulnerability in Reading, UK, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in this field, and work with local government to influence the heat resilience policy in the region.

The ideal candidate will hold a qualification (see essential criteria) in a relevant subject area such as urban meteorology, physical geography, engineering, architectural and urban science, or a related field. They will have a strong background in urban heat exposure research including but not limited to urban heat modelling/mapping/remote sensing/heat-health nexus. The successful candidate will be passionate about applying these tools to real-world practices and making a positive impact. They will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

This full-time position (35 hours per week) is available in April 2023 and is fixed term until 5 March 2024 (maybe extended to full 12 months). Applications for flexible working or job share arrangements will also be considered. The appointments will be made, dependent on relevant qualifications and experience, within the Grades 5 or Grade 6 salary scale.

Salary:
?29,762 - ?34,314 per annum (Grade 5 - Research Assistant) or
?36,333 - ?43,155 per annum (Grade 6 - Research Associate).

It is not anticipated that an appointment will be made above ?36,333 per annum.
