The workshop is being lead by Dr. Charlie Curcija and Dr. Mahabir Bhandari
of DesignBuilder Software (USA) . Both personnel are NFRC certified
simulators and have extensive experience in the use and teaching of
THERM/WINDOW and building energy simulation programs. A brief profile of
presenters is:
Dr. Charlie Curcija is the president of Carli, Inc. and holds a Ph.D. degree
from the University of Massachusetts. He is an internationally recognized
expert in the field of thermal performance of fenestration systems and has
authored over 30 technical papers and publications. Dr. Curcija was
instrumental in the development of ISO15099 standard, which has become a
technical basis for the new National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC)
certification system. Dr. Curcija is the leading technical expert in the
area of the thermal performance of windows at NFRC and is very active on
several NFRC committees. He is collaborating on the development of THERM and
WINDOW computer programs with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL)
and is a member of the program development team. He also works on several
other software projects in service to the fenestration and building
industry. Additionally, Dr. Curcija is a certified simulator for NFRC
program.
Dr. Mahabir Bhandari is the Technical Director at DesignBuilder Software,
USA. He has over 20 years of experience in the field of building energy
performance. He is a LEEDT Accredited Professional and NFRC certified
simulator. He has published more than 15 papers in various International
journals and conferences. Dr. Bhandari's expertise is in the area of whole
building simulation, LEEDT consulting, building component simulation, and
measurement of thermal and optical properties, custom building simulation
software development and fenestration certification. Dr. Bhandari has
actively participated in several LEEDT and sustainability projects. Besides
providing training and technical support on a daily basis at the
DesignBuilder Software in North America, Dr. Bhandari has trained hundreds
of engineers/Architects/Scientists in THERM, WINDOW, OPTICS and
DesignBuilder software worldwide.
