THE POSITION

The Junior Building Analyst will incorporate building envelope details, information, and utilize factors to determine building efficiencies under various design conditions. This will include simulating building and environmental conditions for analysis purposes.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop sustainable design concepts and conduct specific tasks related to the preparation of sustainable design analysis and reports. Receive and execute instructions from the Team Leader and be responsible and accountable for completing the assigned tasks with required level of quality on schedule under the Team Leader's guidance and supervision.

This work will require being familiar with the following building elements:

* Wall and window constructions and energy performance
* Heating and cooling systems
* Ventilation systems
* Lighting systems
* Building design processes (typical and sustainable)
* Interactions of different building systems, and how systems can be optimized to work together to create highly sustainable building
* Familiarity with building design principles acquired through energy simulation will provide an excellent grounding in building design principles and will lead to more intensive building modeling work.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

* University degree in Building/Mechanical engineering, or related equivalent is required
* A.Sc.T. accreditation an asset
* EIT with the eligibility to apply for PEng certification
* LEED AP certification or commitment to get LEED AP certified
* Minimum 1 year experience in building systems engineering and providing sustainable design consulting
* Basic familiarity with using the latest version of applicable codes, standards and sustainable building rating systems
* Basic operating knowledge of advanced building energy analysis
* Ability to think mechanically and/or mechanically inclined
* Verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to multi-task and be a team player
* Critical thinking and problem solving
* Good communication skills
* Strong listening skills to receive and executive instructions from Design staff
