JOB DESCRIPTION
Certification Reviewer, Existing Buildings Energy/HVAC
Specific responsibilities include
? Perform in-depth technical review and analyses of building operations for compliance with sustainability standards (e.g. LEED for Existing Buildings, WELL, etc.)
? Perform onsite performance testing and compliance verification for assessor-based certification programs (e.g., WELL)
? Provide enhanced review within designated specialty; expert review of credits related to energy auditing, commissioning and ventilation in existing buildings
? Educate the marketplace by effectively communicating technical requirements through written, verbal, and in-person meetings (e.g. WELL) with project team
? Perform quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) review of work done by other GBCI Certification Reviewers, GBCI Assessors (e.g. WELL) and sub contracted review teams
? Provide technical customer service support as needed
? Contribute to the continued development and increased technical knowledge of fellow Certification Reviewers through collaborative teamwork
Secondary responsibilities include
? Assist in developing, reviewing, and refining GBCI programs, policies and plans, as well as specific credit language and reference materials
? Assist in conceiving and developing improvements to the certification review process based on personal knowledge and vision, or user feedback
? Liaise with USGBC, IWBI, IFC and other standard developers and their associated technical committees
? Liaise with USGBC Education team, GBCI Credentialing team, and other internal and external groups as needed
? Maintain currency of expertise by staying abreast of new and developing industry issues and trends
? Assist with mentoring other team members
? Other duties as assigned
Travel Requirements
? Variable by program; higher for assessor based programs such as WELL
Education and training requirements/preferences
? Bachelor?s degree (Master?s degree preferred) in a field of study related to one or more of the following specialties:
* Engineering (mechanical, civil, structural)
* Building Operations (facility management, property management)
? Currently licensed professional in specialty area preferred. Other professional certifications as relevant to area of expertise
? CEM or Commissioning Certification preferred
? LEED AP required upon hire; with O+M specialty preferred
Experience requirements
? Minimum of 5 years direct professional experience in area of specialty
? Minimum of 2 years of experience with LEED rating systems, in particular LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance
? Experience with a variety of high-performance building projects, including LEED projects and/or specialization in a high-performance building attribute such as energy efficiency, water efficiency, indoor environmental quality, etc.
? Ability to read, understand and interpret building floor plans, mechanical plans and schedules, sections, site plans, construction specifications and operational policies
? Detailed technical understanding of and experience with one or more of the following building operations topics: common construction methods, materials specification, fenestration, HVAC systems, plumbing systems, electrical systems
? Detailed technical understanding of and experience with common environmental building codes and standards relevant to specialty, (e.g. ASHRAE 62, ASHRAE 55, , ASHRAE Procedures for Commercial Building Energy Audits, ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, UPC/IPC, , ASHRAE 90.1)
? Building operations/facility management experience preferred
