*Tenure-Track Positions in Building Technology*
*University of North Carolina at Charlotte*
The School of Architecture (SoA) at the University of North Carolina at
Charlotte invites applications for two tenure-track positions in Building
Technology at the rank of Assistant Professor. As digital technologies
transform the building industry, from the techniques used to design and
execute buildings to the technologies and systems deployed within them, the
SoA seeks to expand its instructional and research capacity in innovative
building technologies, specifically in two areas:
*Position 004010*: STRUCTURAL SYSTEMS + DESIGN INTEGRATION_
Responsibilities include teaching required courses in structural
principles, statics and strength of materials, structural systems, as well
as building science electives and architectural design studios with
emphases on building technology, intelligent structures, innovative
structural assemblies and integrated design.
*Position 004020*: ENVELOPE SYSTEMS + DESIGN INTEGRATION_ Responsibilities
include teaching required courses in environmental principles, building
systems design, HVAC, as well as building science electives and
architectural design studios with emphases on building technology,
daylighting, intelligent envelopes, innovative envelope assemblies and
integrated design.
Particular interest will be given to applicants who engage in computational
methods as part of their teaching, design and/or research methods. The
successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with
colleagues in SoA?s Integrated Design Research (IDR) Lab and
state-of-the-art CNC fabrication lab. Applicants must demonstrate their
ability to be an enthusiastic, effective building technology and design
studio teacher. Evidence of emerging and peer-reviewed research, published
design work and scholarship, design awards, research grants and/or design
practice is required. A professional degree in Architecture is required
(M.Arch. and/or B.Arch. + post-professional graduate degree); professional
licensure and/or PhD is preferred.
