Good Afternoon,

I was wondering is it possible to export file from Equest into EnergyPlus?
Basically I have modeled building in Equest, and the problem is its hard to
model green roof in Equest and I think it can be easily modeled in
EnergyPlus. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you.

Heat transfer through green roofs is very misunderstood. The critical layer is the foliage and it turns out that foliage simply uses every heat transfer mechanism possible (particularly convection) to stay within a few degrees of ambient temperature. If you do the math, you'll see that evapotranspiration is highly overrated for low-profile extensive roofs. This means that you can reasonably simulate a green roof in eQUEST by calling the top layer (foliage) a perfect solar reflector with a U-value similar to a 1 inch air layer, a soil layer with about 1/2 the density and similar u-value to the library wet soil, another 1/2 to 1 inch air gap for the drain layer, and then the conventional roof layers below that.

The only way I know of moving info from eQUEST to E-Pro is to copy and paste lines from the eQUEST BDL file to the E-Pro BDL. Not sure if you can still do this with newer versions.
